Advanced Study in Exercise Physiology 38-420 - Summer Session II 2009NOTE - 16 July 2009 - Here is a document that outlines (in abstract form) valid logical argument form - just in case you want to confirm your arguments are logically valid. Links to the left under "Navigation" will help you navigate the site. Read through the Syllabus - think about your project ideas (see the Topic Ideas page for my thoughts) before we meet on the first day of class Thursday, July 9th at 10:15 AM. (NOTE: We will not meet on Tuesday, July 7th - I would prefer for you to have read through the wiki and the syllabus and be prepared to ask questions about the class expectations and requirements.) This is a challenging course since it is highly self directed and because I hold high expectations - you are seniors and I expect you to integrate previously learned materials from your first three years of college. I expect you to reason and therefore write clearly. For example, I expect you to integrate what you have learned in college writing, psychology, sociology, the basic sciences with what you have learned in stats, data analysis and all of your EP major courses to date. The degree to which you will demonstrate such integrated understanding will vary based on your specific project. NOTES: If you add to the discussion of a page - you need to go back to that particular page to check to see if there has been a response. Please add to your page anything that you feel will be helpful to you as you plan, organize, investigate, etc. for your project proposals, papers and critiques (feedback). I will post additions / responses as appropriate to your specific pages. Also, take a look at one anothers postings to help each other out as able / appropriate - particularly for the person's page for which you are assigned to critique as the final course requirement. If you have never used a "Wiki" before - check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dnL00TdmLY Consider this wiki as coordinating your project with my (and your classmates) input. Each person must have a unique project; however - it is encouraged that you work through your ideas with one another when possible. Let's keep discussions from this main page limited to those about the course, requirements, etc - in general; and discussions from individual's pages for discussing each individuals / or group of individuals project. The best way to communicate to me your continued thought development of your ideas is to post them on your page on this wiki. We will also meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:15 - 12:15 in Weed hall as you see fit. In other words, if you want to meet in person to discuss your project - you should plan to come to campus on one of those two days. Otherwise - the best way to contact me is through email: Sean_Collins@uml.edu |
